ID: I726 Mr. Hahnert was born in Germany August 7, 1832, and came to this country when 23 years of age, first locating at Dayton, Ohio, where he worked at the shoemaking trade at that place for six years. He then located at Columbus Grove, Ohio, where he remained for six years. Note: He was united in marriage on September 10, 1861, at Columbus Grove, Ohio, to miss Catherine Mellinger, when six years later they moved on a farm near Vaughnsville, Ohio, where they remained until 1886, when they came to Adams County and located on a farm three miles northwest of Monroe, where they resided until about six years ago when they disposed of the farm and moved to Monroe where he lived a retired life. Note: To this union were born six children, one of whom, Mary J. Messner of Marion, preceded the father in death. Those besides the wife who survive are John A. of Westminster, Ohio, Emma D. Lee of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Joseph H., of Salem, George A., of Monroe and Lizzie Graham of Ashland, Ohio. He also leaves twenty -five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a host of kind friends. Note: In the year 1868 Frederick Hahnert was converted and united with the Christian Church at Vaughnsville, Ohio, where he was a faithful member until 1886, when he united with the Zion Christian Union church until his moving to Monroe, when he affiliated himself with the Methodist church and was an honored and respected member until the time of his death. Note: Funeral services were held on Friday at two o'clock at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. John Philiips. Interment was made in the Zion cemetery. ®20 The following relatives from out of town, who attended the funeral of Frederick Hahnert, held last Friday returned to their homes: John Hahnert Westminster, Ohio, on Saturday; C.T.
